Ivo KrivanekDesign Director Ivo is an accomplished architect who is particularly well-known throughout Australia for his design ability and artisic vision. He is responsible for many of CK Designworks' award-winning projects. Ivo’s experience as an architect extends across many disciplines, including residential, commercial, education and ecclesiastical architecture, as well as urban design and planning. He is a committed project manager that leads a dynamic team of architects, interior designers and urban planners to transform ideas into exceptional designs. Ivo is particularly interested in the role of architecture in creating environments that provide opportunity for social connectivity, promote chance encounters and facilitate a richer life experience. His design philosophy is that Architecture and Urban Design should enable and facilitate. Ivo’s project involvement often extends to the urban, landscape and interior designs, as well as the architecture and engineering of the built environment, to ensure that the result is a complete design that reinforces a harmonious and fluid visual and social experience. He has a talent for creating architecture that is considerate of cultural sensitivities which is complemented by a keen interest in art, languages and cultures. And his European training and heritage provide a strong basis for classical references with an innovative interpretation. Ivo began his career as an architect in Europe in the early 1970s. After moving to Melbourne in the mid 1970s, he worked in a number of architectural practices in Melbourne before joining including Begg Barrack & Douglas where he met fellow Architect, Robert Caulfield, a future founding partner of Caulfield & Krivanek Architects Pty Ltd. Ivo and Robert established Melbourne based Caulfield & Krivanek Architects in 1978, and in 2002 Caulfield & Krivanek became CK Designworks Architects when Dominic and Janusz joined Ivo and Robert as partners.
